Darling Girl Cosmetics American Gothic Look

Hi! A real quick eye of the day today. All I wore was Elf Eyelid primer, Darling Girl American Gothic Watercolor Paint Pot all over the lid (review, swatches, and a fotd HERE!), and L'Oreal Strawberry Blonde Infallible eyeshadow on the inner corner. I think I'm wearing Maybelline Colossal Volum mascara.

**This was bought by me BEFORE I became a Darling Girl model for the Pick Of The Week. No discount code was used on this purchase.**

Darling Girl Cosmetics Watercolor Paint Pot "American Gothic" look

A very simple, sparkly look featuring Darling Girl cosmetics "American Gothic" Watercolor Paint Pot. The Watercolor Paint Pots (WPP) are super soft, almost whipped like, cream eyeshadows. I've found that using a brush sheers the color, so I like to use a brush to swipe on the first semi-sheer layer and let that set for a minute. Then I apply a second layer by patting the WPP on the eyelid with my finger to build up the opacity. One tip I would recommend is to use a brush to blend out the edges before the final layer sets, that way you won't be left with any harsh edges.

The Darling Girl website says:

"Watercolor Paint Pots can be used  as a stand alone color or as a base to enhance whatever color you layer over it.Watercolor Paint Pots have a soft creamy consistency; they are not water proof, but once set, they are pretty smudge proof.  They have almost a cream-to-powder effect. Simply apply your regular primer. Using a stiff-bristled brush, apply a thick line along the lash line and blend out."
American Gothic: A shimmery, metallic, pink toned beige with pink and purple sparkles/glitter.
Since putting together this post Susan has taken down the listing for American Gothic. There are other really beautiful WPP so I suggest checking them out the WPP section on the DG website.

Maybelline Line Stiletto liquid liner in black

A Positively Peachy Darling Girl Look and Disclaimer

**UPDATE** Positively Peachy is now a part of the core line!!!

First things first, I am one of several new models, or Glamor Girls, for Darling Girl Cosmetics. I'm not sure what the official *disclaimer* way of putting this out there is... But basically I get 20% off my orders in return for sharing my "looks" several times a month. That's all, I'm not paid to do anything and there are no "sent for free for my consideration" type freebies. If there are any questions please feel free to leave them in the comments section  below :) Now on to the fun stuffs!

For this look I used (in this order):

DG Primped and Primed all over lid,
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cottage Cheese on inner corner,
NYX JEP in Slate on the outer V and crease,
DG Perfectly Peachy patted ALL over (lid, inner corner, outer V, and crease)
Wet n Wild black eyeliner,
Maybelline Line Stiletto Liquid Liner,
Maybelline Great Lash mascara,
Prestige eyeliner in Sable to fill in  brows,
DG lipgloss in Gina Cadaverous (much more "murky" looking in person with gorgeous green to gold shifting shimmer!)

Wet n Wild Dancing in the Clouds trio review, swatches and look

For this look I used Wet n Wild limited edition Dream Weavers eyeshadow trio in Dancing in the Clouds. When I first saw this collections I was happily surprised by the choice in colors, though I didn't really see how they were "space" themed. After looking at each individual trio I noticed they have rather unusual color combinations.
I was especially unsure of how well a bright purple with blue shimmer would go with metallic copper and an old gold/pewter. The proof is in the pudding!

The pigmentation is amazing! Except for the purple... The prettiest one of course. It takes quite a bit of work to get it to actually look like the color in the pan. So worth it though. This trio is gorgeous!

Left to right the purple is packed on over NYX jumbo pencil in Slate, NYX jumbo pencil in Yogurt, elf eyelid primer, Maybelline dream mousse eyeshadow in Vanilla Veil, Covergirl Shadow Squease in Cloud and Almay concealer in Light. None of them worked that well except for NYX jumbo pencils.

This is swatched over NYX jumbo pencil in Slate, Yogurt and Milk. Slate really brings out the blue shift, Yogurt does a decent job but changes the purple shade a bit (I wouldn't use it), Milk sorta makes the purple look muddy and kinda funny looking.

I ended up using NYX eyeliner in Purple as a base for the purple eyeshadow and NYX jumbo pencil in Yogurt as a base for the copper and pewter.

I Used:
elf eyelid primer from lashes to brow

NYX eyeliner in Purple as base on outer V and bottom lashline
NYX jumbo pencil in Yogurt as base on rest of lid and inner corner
WnW Dancing in the Clouds followed suggested placement except for pewter on inner corner not browbone.
Maybelline Line Stiletto liquid liner in Black on top lashline
Revlon Extra Curl eyelash curler
Maybelline Colossal mascara in Classic Black
L.A. Colors auto eyeliner in Black (lasts all day on my waterline without fading)
NYC limited edition blushable creme stick in Golden Radiance (cheek highlight)
Meow Cosmetics Wild Child blush in Snarky
Rimmel Vinyl Bronze lipgloss in Golden Goddess

WnW Fast Dry nail polish in Buffy the Violet Slayer

The Fast Dry formula isn't as smooth and glossy as the Wild Shine polishes, but it does dry a bit faster. I have a coat of Color Club Vivid top coat on.

Dancing in the Clouds is a great dupe for Urban Decay Summer of love palette (obviously the purple is not as good as the Urban Decay purple). I know I've seen comparison swatches online. Summer of Love palette is around $20 on eBay. I don't think you can buy it in stores anymore... So for three dollars WnW is a good alternative.
